The number of Coronavirus cases in these three areas has surpassed 380,645; with hundreds of deaths occurring each day.

The pandemic’s immediate consequence is hunger, which is pounding on the door of impoverished households.

BEING UNEMPLOYED
Workers, teachers, builders, lottery sellers, and others with precarious occupations have been unemployed for 3 months now.

The situation strikes the most on children and the elderly.
THE POOR IN COVID - 19
DYING OF HUNGER IS NO LONGER A FAR-FETCHED FUTURE
SOME STATISTIC
Poor people were asking for some food via social media as there was nothing left in their house.
To survive during the pandemic, many poor families have to:
● Reduce the portion of meat (48%)
● Consume more veggies to save money (46,8%)
● Eat more instant noodles (21,1%)
● Merge to 2 meals/day only (15%)
People took all risks running away from Saigon to go back to their hometown
This video is recorded on 1 July 2021, the situation is much worse now, as the poor are unable to earn any support despites being unemployed and lockdown.

“Milk for Children & Nutritious Soups for the Elderly” project
● Children and the elderly are the people most affected by the epidemic, especially in terms of health.
● During this time, impoverished parents cannot afford to buy milk for their children.
● Because of malnutrition, mother milk is insufficient for breast-feeding.
● The elderly require age-appropriate meals as well as money for medications.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR
Until recently, our project has fundraised 700,000,000 VND (equal to 30,400 USD) from local sources and assisted about 1,500 families with an approximate budget allocation of 400,000 VND (equal to 17 USD) per family.
